Benchmarking AHP services using AHP Data Set

Using the AHP summary dataset especially the descriptors of a clinical case can allow you to compare caseloads in different clinical areas.

The AHP Summary Dataset recommended that to propperly describe an AHP clinical case, you need to know the medical diagnosis (ICD10, OPCS4 or Readv2) ; the health problems of concern to the patients (ICF) the reason for clinical intervention (Objective) and the stage of their patient journey. As part of a review of AHP services within a CHP a 2 week time diary was kept (similar to the NES Skills Maximisation Toolkit) and for every clinical contact in that week the Case Descriptor information was recorded. The data from all clinical areas across different specialties was then analysed, which has produced some very interesting results and helped the staff to be able to demonstrate the appropriate use of clinical staff depending on the health problems and objectives.
